{"id":812,"date":"2015-11-04T13:20:11","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T13:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pottonvets.co.uk\/?p=812"},"modified":"2015-11-04T13:20:11","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T13:20:11","slug":"spay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pottonvets.co.uk\/prometheus\/spay\/","title":{"rendered":"Spay your dog &#8211; the key hole surgery way."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pottonvets.co.uk\/prometheus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/beautiful-girl-5-1365906-639x961.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1089\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pottonvets.co.uk\/prometheus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/beautiful-girl-5-1365906-639x961-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"beautiful-girl-5-1365906-639x961\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #005fab;\">Laparoscopic Spay:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nOver the last few years we have performed over 60 of these procedures, owners who have previously had their pets spayed in the old open surgery are amazed at the improvement in recovery. \u00a0There is less pain and recovery is quicker.<br \/>\nSpaying or neutering female dogs is used to prevent unwanted pregnancy, prevent womb infections in later life, reduce the likelihood of breast tumours (by up to over 90%), \u00a0and stopping seasons. \u00a0The way this has been done is to surgically open the abdomen, pull firmly on the ovaries, tie them off , and then close the abdominal wall again. \u00a0Quite a complex and painful procedure. \u00a0This is a commonly performed procedure and is well practised by many vets making complications a relatively rare problem.<br \/>\nSo , although this is a very effective treatment, there are ways to make this a much less painful experience.<br \/>\nAs only tiny holes are made through the abdominal wall, and we don&#8217;t need to pull on the ovaries, it is a much less painful experience than the traditional method described above. \u00a0By further using a combination of pain relieving modalities such as medical pain relief (pethidine, non-steroidal anti inflammatory drugs) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pottonvets.co.uk\/prometheus\/our-facilities\/k-laser-therapy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">K-laser<\/a> treatment we believe the procedure is now much more comfortable.<br \/>\nSimply put, if you needed surgery, would you choose keyhole surgery over having a large abdominal wound? \u00a0Your dog will thank you for choosing keyhole surgery for her spay.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pottonvets.co.uk\/prometheus\/info\/fees\/keyhole-surgery-laparoscopic-surgery\/\">What does it cost?<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Laparoscopic Spay: &nbsp; Over the last few years we have performed over 60 of these procedures, owners who have previously had their pets spayed in the old open surgery are amazed at the improvement in recovery. \u00a0There is less pain and recovery is quicker.
